2021 was a year packed with tech launches. This year, we saw exciting, creative and revolutionary gadgets hitting the globe market. While flip and fold made a comeback and how, wearing glasses got all the more interesting as it opened a new door to the virtual world.

We also lost our attachments to strings … as more and more brands went wireless., Be it charging your device or listening to tunes in your ear on the move, consumers were spoilt for choice!

As we prep ourselves for another tech-citing year, here’s a recap of some of the top gadgets that had us smitten in 2021. Take a look.


In September this year, the tech giant Apple unveiled their iPhone 13 series where the company launched new models – the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The series featured Apple’s new chip called the A15 Bionicm, which made it their top model till date. The iPhone 13 series flaunts a new camera feature called the Cinematic mode which is specially designed to add extra depth and definition to videos.

The models feature an advanced dual-camera system with a new wide camera with bigger pixels and sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS) offering improvements in low-light photos and videos, and Cinematic mode, which brings a new dimension to video storytelling.

The series was launched at a starting price of Rs 69,900.

G​alaxy Z Flip Series

Samsung’s August line-up boasted of two new shiny things at the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event which was held virtually. The South Korean tech major launched the next chapter in foldable innovation with its two new smartphones — the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G.

Both premium smartphones feature a premium foldable built with the craftsmanship and flagship innovations. Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 offer users an iconic design to immersive entertainment while offering unique new ways to work, watch, and play.

Along with this, Samsung also brought the S Pen experience to a foldable smartphone, for the very first time. The smartphone is built with Armor Aluminum and comes packed with the IPX81 water- resistance feature.

The tech company launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3 at a starting price of Rs 84,999

Tech giant Facebook, now known as Meta, partnered with Ray-Ban to launch its first smart glasses in September with hopes to offer true augmented-reality spectacles.

The glasses have been created in collaboration with Ray-Ban maker EssilorLuxottica and allows users to listen to music, take calls, capture up to 30-second videos and pictures, and upload them on Facebook’s services using the new Facebook View app.

The smart glasses work pretty easily. The frame of the smart glasses has two-front 5MP cameras which captures pictures and videos. For a hands-free experience, the wearer just has to say “Hey Facebook, take a video.” There’s also a button on the glasses for recording.

The smart glasses, called ‘Ray-Ban Stories’, were launched at a starting price of $299 and comes in 20 different style combinations.

The Cupertino-based tech company, Apple, launched its tracking device called ‘AirTag’ in April. This tiny device that can be stuck to items such as keys and wallets, helps locate the item when they get lost. The device uses a bluetooth signal to function.

The new device was applauded by analysts as a likely hot-seller that would also keep the company’s more than 1 billion customers locked into its products.

Apple launched it at Rs 3,190.

This rollable TV by LG surely reimagines what a TV is capable of. The ultra-thin screen rolls into a state-of-the-art sound system. The OLED Rollable TV gives a luxe experience and merges in your surroundings as it appears when you need it and disappears when you don’t.

OnePlus, also, had some exciting things on show this year. The wireless earbuds offer balanced powerful sounds with pure silence. OnePlus Buds Pro comes with Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation that keeps you in control of your audio. The tech company said that the earbuds offer crystal-clear calls and personal music listening experience.

OnePlus Buds Pro features peak noise cancellation at 40dB which helps the buds automatically adapt to your ambient sound environment.

One of the features of Buds Pro is a personalised hearing profile where users can create a tailored audio experience and enjoy up to 10 sculpted sound signatures fine-tuned using a custom audio test. It offers up to 38 hours of battery life while 10 minutes of charging gives 10 hours of listening time.

It comes in two colours, Matte Black and Glossy White, and is priced at Rs 9,990.

The OnePlus 9 5G is till date one of the best phones launched by the tech company which is majorly owned by Oppo, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. The smartphone offers sharp and real-life camera experience.

The OnePlus 9 embodies the bold and new design by the company. It is powered by the company’s fastest ever 5G, ultra-powerful Snapdragon 888 CPU and next-gen RAM.

OnePlus 9 5G comes with 6.55-inch fluid AMOLED Display 11 which offers ultra-smooth scrolling in every frame with a 120 Hz panel.

The smartphone comes in three colour options – Astral Black, Arctic Sky and Winter Mist, and is available at a starting price of Rs 54,999.

​Dyson Hot + Cool Air Purifiers

Not just phones, and TV, there were some other tech-citing things that popped up this year. Dyson’s Hot + Cool air purifier was one such gadget. Meant for the household, it automatically cleans and heats the whole room while also capturing almost 99.95 per cent harmful pollutants in the air as small as 0.1 microns. You can also monitor your air quality with the Dyson Link app. It comes with an adjustable oscillation angle from 45 degree to 350 degree to circulate purified air around the whole room.

It comes with Diffused mode and Night-time mode. In the Diffused mode, the air is diverted through the back of the machine. to purify without cooling the room. While the Night-time mode monitors and purifies using the quietest settings with a dimmed display.

The air purifiers are also compatible with Alexa. It is available at a starting price of Rs 50,000 but due to the holiday season, there are several offers going on to get the product for a cheaper price.
